Write for us

Urban Public Dispatch welcomes considered pitches about the design and everyday use of city streets. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the idea and its fit.

What we welcome

We are interested in clear, original pieces about sidewalks, crossings, street furniture, traffic and the edges of buildings at street level. A strong contribution might explain one design choice, compare two approaches, trace a relevant piece of history or help readers notice a familiar street detail in a new way.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the central question, the main point you would make and why it matters to a general reader. Mention the format you have in mind and any sources or permissions the piece would need. Keep the proposed scope manageable, and explain what readers could understand or notice after reading.

A few boundaries

We look for accurate, accessible writing that avoids unsupported claims and specialist language without explanation. Pitches should not depend on readers carrying out safety-critical inspections or work, or on advice about local rules. Sending a pitch does not guarantee publication; please use the Contact page to propose an idea rather than submitting a complete article unless invited.
